Az Istenek tanácsa, amelyet egy kritikus igencsak találóan a 12 dühös ember és a Vészhelyzet keresztezésének nevezett, egy New York-i kórházban játszódik, ahol a transzplantációs döntőbizottságnak hirtelen döntést kell hoznia, hogy négy beteg közül alig egy óra múlva ki kaphat új szívet. A bizottság tagjainak ebben a „hatalmas drámában“ elveket, érveket, érzelmeket, orvosi, erkölcsi és anyagi szempontokat kell egymásnak szegezniük, hogy felelősen dönthessenek…
