Popova Jelena Ivanovna, a fiatal özvegy földbirtokosnő hetedik hónapja gyászolja elhunyt urát. Elhatározása szent és megmásíthatatlan: elzárkózik a világtól, haláláig gyászolni fog. Ekkor állít be hozzá hívatlanul Szmirnov Grigorij Sztyepanovics, hogy néhai férje tartozását behajtsa.
Leánykérés
Ivan Vasziljevics Lomov, földbirtokos, 35 évesen úgy dönt, hogy most már mindenképpen megházasodik. A szomszédba megy lánykérőbe,azonban kiderül, hogy az udvariassági társalgás még jó szomszédok között sem olyan zökkenőmentes. A valósággal való bármilyen egyezés pedig csupán a véletlen műve....

A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances.
For the 14th time, the performance of the famous Symphony No. 9 will dominate the OPERA’s New Year celebrations. In 2027, the programme will be completed by two further classical works: Beethoven’s overture, also enhanced by Mahler, and a cello concerto by Haydn, the latter of course featuring an OPERA soloist.
